Rebirth?

So clearly I am not very good at this whole blag thing. I made a bunch of posts and then silence for nearly a year(almost to the day). Quick(haha) update, including the biggest step thus far in my life, and then maybe some new stuff after the break.

Weight Struggles

I have been struggling with my weight for about a year and a half. Most of it comes from being extremely active to sedentary almost instantly when I got my cushy desk job. That, and I kept eating 3k+ Calories a day.

Ender's Game Series Appetizer

I owe a huge thank you to my friends Ryan and Amanda for suggesting Orson Scott Card's epic fantasy, the "Ender's Game" novels. I was worried that I wouldn't enjoy the story as I cracked the spine on "Ender's Game". I read a telling introduction by Card himself, more here. I had also read some really good reviews and received some very high praise from my friends. Luckily for me, it was not difficult at all to fall in love with the world Card had created. There were some troubling (and extremely revealing) ideas/portrayals of humanity, however, the Sci-Fi presented a nice background for the ideas to blossom.

Perception

Perception is a terribly interesting phenomena. Wikipedia describes perception as "the organization, identification, and interpretation of sensory information in order to fabricate a mental representation through the process of transduction, which sensors in the body transform signals from the environment into encoded neural signals."

Starter's Game?

This is another literature post so, please, everyone bear with me. At the behest of a long time friend and her domestic partner, a man who made my first life out of my dad's house much more bearable, I have in my possession Orson Scott Card's Sci-Fi novel "Ender's Game". But let's hold off on Ender for a bit and discuss a few prior happenings. Queue the eclecticism.

Birds Again(Movie update)

So Daisy and I saw "The Hunger Games" in theaters. I must preface this with a few facts about my preferences. I normally detest movies based on books. In my opinion, the stories told in the book are so wonderful, that a film adaptation cannot possibly live up to the legacy. Yet they try, and fail miserably. My perfect example is the Harry Potter series. I watched 1 and 2 in theaters and borrowed someones DVD of 3. I was unimpressed with them all. Since then, I haven't watched any of them due to knowing how drastically they would disappoint me.

Video Game

Its that odd time of year. The heat wave of summer if you will(very fitting considering actual US/NA temperatures lately). No new big name games are coming out. We had a fairly strong release season around Christmas 2011. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the big blockbuster I recall releasing as it is the sequel to one of my favorite games of all time, TES IV:Oblivion, an open world RPG where you can do pretty much anything you want, although the focus is on adventuring/questing.

But now, with no new blockbusters coming yet, and most people out of school, Steam is hosting its Summer Sales. Huge price cuts on nearly every game in its vast library.
